Project log: Here
Here's another project that has leapt out of some early renders and in addition to using the gorgeous Lian-Li A01 case as a focus of the mod, the extensive yet subtle looking additions cmd_ has made so far look fabulous.
The project is certainly shaping up into something very different from
EMU-atom-NAS which we brought to everyone's attention last year.
We've got some hardcore, excessive modding going on here though so hold on to your hats as cmd_ gets stuck in with some welding, heating, water-jetting and bending.
Here's the initial render showing a front end that's leaning forwards and entirely engulfed by a triple 120mm radiator which looks rather menacing. Next to this we see the stock Lian-Li A01 with its sleek likes and curves although not the best case for water-cooling at first glance.
cmd_ looks set to change that though and the first hint of the cooling system appeared in this photo in the form of a double 120mm radiator being test-fitted in the bottom of the case. We can also see the case which has been split into its individual sections ready for some modding.
Here's some of that hardcore modding at work. The front panel is being cut by water jet to accommodate that radiator so it's goodbye to the drive bays. Here's the result - very nice.
The leaning front grill surround is next on the list and this has been fashioned from a length of metal, heated and bent to shape in quite an awesome style. cmd_ then painstakingly polished the surround so it eventually yielded a chrome-like surface.
